Thursday, March 4th, 2021

Savannah State University (SSU) has opened a new Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship to provide access to entrepreneurial education for developing businesses. Open to the public and SSU students, the Center includes an Access to Capital for Entrepreneurs Women’s Business Center, a national network that offers valuable resources to women entrepreneurs on business development topics. The Center also houses the Savannah State University Innovation Institute, a test-bed for tech start-ups creating smart products with a lab focusing on 12 primary areas, including financial, agriculture and logistics technology.

“The Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship is exciting in that it will offer our students an unparalleled academic experience while creating a pathway to entrepreneurship and establishing digital equity for the greater Savannah community,” said Shalonda Mullgrav, DBA, Interim Dean of the College of Business Administration. “We now have a space for entrepreneurial thinkers and new companies to collaborate, test and develop their ideas.”

With offices located on campus in the College of Business Administration, 3219 College St., and at SSU’s Coastal Georgia Center, 305 Fahm St., the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship offers budding entrepreneurs access to faculty expertise, coaching, programming, and financial counseling to encourage the development of technology-based ventures. As an extension of the curriculum in the College of Business Administration, the Center is an essential element of the business students’ experience where entrepreneurial skills are honed and student-run businesses can scale and grow.
