Plant Riverside District to Host Third Annual Savannah Christmas Market

Plant Riverside District – which is widely known as Savannah’s Entertainment District – is delighted to host the third annual Savannah Christmas Market, which will spread good tidings and holiday cheer from Friday, November 25, 2022 through Monday, January 2, 2023. All family-friendly festivities are open to the public and will take place at Plant Riverside District, which is conveniently located on Savannah’s historic riverfront at 400 W. River St.

“I enjoyed visiting beautiful Christmas markets during my European travels and wanted to bring some of that holiday magic to the Hostess City,” said Richard C. Kessler, Chairman and CEO of The Kessler Collection. “Three years later, the Savannah Christmas Market at Plant Riverside District has become a favorite holiday tradition for local residents as well as visitors from across the country.”

The 2022 Savannah Christmas Market at Plant Riverside District will offer a wide range of holiday-themed events as well as a dazzling European-style outdoor holiday market, live performances, tree lighting ceremony, children’s activities, gingerbread house, photos with Santa and more. The Savannah Christmas Market at Plant Riverside District blends the best of European and Southern holiday traditions into a festive, inclusive, family-friendly celebration.

“Plant Riverside District truly is a special home for holidays,” Kessler added. “We warmly invite everyone to kick off their holiday festivities at our tree lighting ceremony, bring friends and family to view our spectacular gingerbread house, take photos with Santa and celebrate the magic of the season at Plant Riverside District.”

The Savannah Christmas Market will officially open on Friday, November 25 at noon and will feature a special Tree Lighting Ceremony featuring Roger Moss reading “The Night Before Christmas” and live holiday-themed performances by Coastal Youth Choirs on Friday, Nov. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at Martin Luther King, Jr. Park. The official lighting of the Christmas Tree in Martin Luther King, Jr. Park will take place at 7:30 p.m., followed by Santa and his elves arriving to greet attendees and distribute free candy canes.

Photos with Santa, which are free and open to the public, will be available daily from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. as well as on Saturday, Nov. 26 and Sunday, Nov. 27 from 1 to 3 p.m. in Montgomery Park. Cirque Divina will present a free holiday-themed aerial show on Friday, Nov. 25 at 9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 at 2 p.m. Acclaimed magician David Jowers will perform free holiday magic on Friday, Nov. 25 at 5 p.m. at Beethoven’s Terrace.

A special Kid’s Corner featuring free children’s holiday activities including ornament decorating, letters to Santa and holiday card making will be set up in Montgomery Park on Friday, Nov. 25 from noon to 3 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 26 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Christmas Story Time with Daniel Eustice will take place on Saturday, Nov. 26 at 11 a.m. in Montgomery Park. In addition, Plant Riverside District pastry chefs will lead Holiday Cookie Decorating for children of all ages on Dec. 3, 10 and 17 at 2:30 p.m. in Generator Hall.
