The Lowcountry Down Syndrome Society, a family support group to benefit people with Down syndrome, announced that it has rebranded. LDSS will begin operating under the new logo effective immediately. The rebrand is the positive outcome of the nonprofit organization’s growth and advancement in the greater Savannah area, recent achievements, and increasing recognition. The rebranding will continue to build and foster LDSS’s unparalleled dedication to offering family support through local leadership, outreach, education and advocacy to champion and celebrate acceptance and inclusion of those with different abilities.

“LDSS’s re-branding represents our evolution and direction,” said board president, Joe Marchese. “The new logo encompasses the love we have for all people with the third copy of the 21st chromosome that causes Down Syndrome.”

The logo was created and donated by Brennan Hussey, who is the sister of Sean Hussey, age nine, who has Down Syndrome. The imagery used on the logo has significant meaning to the group as the 21 represents “trisomy 21” which is the clinical marker for Down Syndrome, and the heart represents the vision of a welcoming and inclusive community.

With the adoption of its logo and new brand identity, LDSS kicks off the beginning changes and celebrations associated with this year being the group’s 10th anniversary. Brian Hussey, father of the artist who donated the logo, said, “We are excited to unveil our new logo in conjunction with our 10th anniversary and Buddy Walk celebration. Currently, we are looking for sponsors for the 10th annual Buddy Walk; anyone interested in supporting our group and our children can call me at 912-220-1924.”
