Historic Savannah Foundation, a leading preservation organization committed to preserving and protecting Savannah's heritage, recently selected the design of Savannah Arts Academy student Soniya Bhagat as the official 2016 Savannah Preservation Festival poster.

Bhagat’s artwork, which highlights a historic building on Broughton Street, is the featured image for the 2016 Savannah Preservation Festival. Last May, Bhagat was honored as the high school winner of the Pennies for Preservation Poster Contest, under the direction of art teacher Steve Schetski, while she was a tenth grade student at Savannah Arts Academy.

“We encouraged students to submit creative, original posters with vibrant images celebrating our community’s strong sense of place,” said HSF president and CEO Daniel Carey. “We were impressed with the quality of the submissions and are delighted to share Soniya’s image nationally as we promote the 2016 Savannah Preservation Festival.”

HSF is currently accepting submissions for the 2016 Pennies for Preservation Poster Contest; the deadline is April 22nd. Submission rules and applications are also available by emailing Danielle Meunier at [email protected].
