The Home Builders Association of Georgia recently installed their new officers for 2016- 2017 at the HBAG Fall Board Meeting held at the Westin Jekyll Island. Local leaders in the home building industry came together over the course of 3 days to share knowledge and industry expertise. The installation ceremony was held on the final evening and the theme was “Strength in Numbers”.

HBAG 2016-2017 Senior Officers are: President – Lamar Smith, HBA of Greater Savannah, Lamar Smith Signature Group Vice President – Bobby Cleveland, HBA of Middle Georgia, Fickling & Company Vice President/Treasurer – Jim Brown, Greater Atlanta HBA, JWB Properties Vice President/Secretary – Doug McMonigle, BA of Metro Augusta, Doug Mc- Monigle Associate Vice President – Heather Bounds, Greater Atlanta HBA, Northwest Exterminating Immediate Past President – Neal Davis, GEOC President – Patty Rietkovich, HBA of Greater Savannah

Smith, a successful Developer and Home Builder from the Greater Savannah HBA brings a wealth of experience and knowledge HBAG.

He served as a local officer in Savannah in the late 90’s and early 2000’s and served as President in 2003. He has received many awards over the years including Builder Member of the Year and most recently received the coveted Hall of Fame Award from the Greater Savannah HBA.

Over the past 20 years, Smith has built a reputation on vision, integrity, and respect for the natural beauty of Coastal Georgia. From land development to commercial building to residential construction, his goal has always been to enrich communities - to create places that aesthetically and functionally make the community a better place to live.

Smith has studied responsible land development strategies and New Urbanism to maximize green space and decrease unplanned urban sprawl. Lamar grew up in Reidsville, Georgia, and graduated from the University of Georgia. His family includes his wife, Edie, and two sons, Taylor and Steven. His spiritual and family life is an integral part of his professional life.

His dedication to family and community include serving on the Coastal Area YMCA Board, fund-raising for The Boy Scouts, supporting the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Pinewood Christian Academy, in addition to assisting many organizations that benefit children and help a community grow. His hobbies and enjoyment span piloting his plane and wing shooting to traveling with his family. “On behalf of the HBA of Greater Savannah, I could not be more excited for Lamar to serve as President of HBAG.
