Coastal Center for Developmental Services, a non-profit leader in services to adults with developmental disabilities in Savannah, GA, has announced that Dr. Ken Boyd has been chosen as the new Executive Director effective January 2, 2017.  He succeeds current Executive Director Kathy Thomson, who retires from CCDS after 40 years in early January 2017.

“When we began this search, we wanted someone like Dr. Boyd to fill Kathy’s shoes.  We never dreamed that we’d find that person right here in Savannah,” expressed CCDS Board President John Manly. “The Board is thrilled for what the future holds at CCDS.”

Boyd brings over 11 years of local executive leadership and experience to CCDS and its subsidiary corporation, Quantum, Inc. His most recent position was as Vice President for Academic Affairs at Savannah Technical College.  Prior to his work in corporate education and training, Boyd completed a 20-year military career.

Dr. Boyd is a distinguished military graduate from the University of Delaware.  He has a MS in Systems Technology from the Naval Postgraduate School and a Doctor of Education from Georgia Southern University.

CCDS has already greatly benefitted from Boyd’s extensive community knowledge and contacts.  Boyd served on the agency’s Business Advisory Council before joining Quantum, Inc.’s Board of Directors in 2006. His Quantum board service included president, vice president and treasurer.  He joined the CCDS Board of Directors in 2010 and served until May 2016.

“Ken brings a wealth of knowledge and experience in the business world, and has served our agency in various roles for over a decade,” stated Thomson.  “With Ken in charge, I see a solid, strong future for the agency and the people it serves.”
