The annual Critz Tybee Run Fest wrapped up on Saturday, February 4th with slight wind paired with sunshine and temperatures in the mid 50’s, which provided good race conditions. Nearly 2000 participants, took part in the stellar five race event, including the North Beach Bar and Grill 5K, the Wet Willie’s 10K, the Chu’s Half Marathon, the Lighthouse Pizza 2.8 Mile Beach Run, and the Basil’s 1 Mile Fun Run, along with the Byrd’s Famous Cookies Kiddie Run for the smallest participants. The race event presented the opportunity for a large variety of runners, from young children to mature adults, to participate and be part of such a unique and family friendly race event.

The organizers, supporting partners, and volunteers went out of their way to make participants and spectators alike feel welcome by providing a fun and positive athletic environment: http://critztybeerun.com/sponsors/. All participants were delighted at the finish line with “refuel options”, ranging from whole-grain breads & muffins by Great Harvest Bakery, soup from Little Italy Neighborhood Restaurant, chicken pasta by North Beach Bar and Grill, pizza and pizza bites by Lighthouse Pizza, along with refuel drinks from Our Skinny, Coca-Cola, Powerade, and plenty of DASANI water along the race course and in the finish line area.

The beautiful variety of race courses highlights some of Tybee Island’s most historic landmarks like the iconic pier and the famous lighthouse. The focus of the race is the finish line near the Tybee Pier, where everyone gathers to celebrate their achievements in an exciting environment.
