Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, March 3rd, 2017

This spring the City of Savannah and Keep Savannah Beautiful stand ready to help residents organize cleanup and beautification projects in their neighborhoods as part of the Great Savannah Cleanup, which kicks off Saturday, March 4. On March 4, the City of Savannah will work with Poplar Place neighborhood residents, and volunteers from Armstrong State University and PriceLine.com for a cleanup of Alpine Park to promote recycling, beautification, and litter prevention. Cleanup efforts will begin at 9 a.m. on Alpine Drive between White Bluff Road and Roger Wood Street. Activities will include adding mulch to the park as well as litter cleanup along Alpine, Linden, Roger Wood and White Bluff.

Residents and businesses throughout Savannah can help organize their own neighborhood cleanup, graffiti removal and beautification projects during the Great Savannah Cleanup, which wraps up at the end of May. The City of Savannah will provide neighborhoods with supplies and guidance, and will collect trash bags at the end of the event. Residents or businesses interested in volunteering or organizing a neighborhood cleanup should call City of Savannah Operation Clean Sweep coordinator Pauline Haywood at (912) 658-6795.
