Country Day Sweeps Georgia Southern Invitational Math Tournament

On Saturday, February 25, the Upper and Middle School Math Teams competed in the 29th Annual Georgia Southern Invitational Mathematics Tournament. The event involves almost 1,000 students and includes both individual tests and a team ciphering competition.

In the Varsity division, the team of Ruoyu Qian, Harrison West, Shiyuan Xu and Shiyu Zhang won first place out of 40 teams. Ruoyu took the third place trophy for individuals. Yi Dan Ma, Patti Tao, Josh Braun, and Anson Siu also competed in the Varsity division.

In the Junior Varsity division, the team of Angela Young, Kaiyuan Luo, Ziyi Su, and Junyi Zhu won first place out of about 35 teams. Junyi was the third place individual in the Junior Varsity division and Angela won the second place trophy. Junho Chang, Vik Manocha, Chang Feng Cai, and Alvin Adjei also represented SCDS for the JV.

In the Middle School division, there were 35 teams, and the SCDS team of Sowah Adjei, Owen Elkin, Landon Stone, and Vaibhav Patel won the second place trophy. Sowah was the second place individual prize winner of the approximately 130 students in the division. Owen placed fourth overall. The team of Charles Harris, Cole Gensheimer, Robinson Norman, and Ben Rabb placed seventh. Jimmy Grove, Aden Adjei, Alysa Young, and Yenna Park rounded out the Middle School team.
