Mighty Eighth Opens Traveling Exhibit March 16th

The National Museum of the Mighty Eighth Air Force is opening a new traveling exhibit by The National WWII Museum New Orleans on Thursday, March 16.

Manufacturing Victory: The Arsenal of Democracy tells the inspiring story of the Home Front effort that produced tanks, planes, ships, and guns with staggering speed and unparalleled energy, a surge in productivity that not only brought the country out of depression, but also created mighty military forces, supplied the Allies abroad, and opened new doors of opportunity and social change.

The exhibit opens on Thursday, March 16, and a Grand Opening weekend will be held on Saturday and Sunday, March 25 – 26. The Grand Opening will include tours, presentations and several fun activities for children including a scavenger hunt with prizes.

On Sunday, admission will be free for all Chatham, Effingham and Bryan County residents. The free admission day is sponsored by Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. to commemorate the 50 th anniversary of Gulfstream’s Savannah headquarters.
