Tybee Island's Lighthouse Pizza Opens Third Location

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Thursday, March 9th, 2017

Lighthouse Pizza, based on Tybee Island, held a Grand Opening celebration Thursday, March 2, for its third store, Lighthouse Pizza Islands on Wilmington Island.

The Grand Opening included a ribbon cutting by the Savannah Chamber of Commerce, live music, food samples and door prizes.

Lighthouse Pizza is locally owned and operated, with a management team of President Rich Hammons, Marketing Director Vicki Smith Hammons and General Manager Brittney Tucker. Tucker began with the company as a server and was named manager of Lighthouse Pizza North when it opened in 2015, then promoted to general manager in 2016, now supervising all three stores.

Community involvement includes the business and staff. Vicki Hammons serves as Vice-Chair of the Tybee Island Development Authority/Main Street program. The business has sponsored the Lighthouse Pizza 2.8 Mile Beach Run as part of the Critz Tybee RunFest for six years, and has supported the Tybee Island Maritime Academy, Surfers for Autism and the Tybee Post Theater among other causes.

The original Beach location at 15 Tybrisa St. on Tybee opened in 2007, and was expanded and renovated in 2015. Lighthouse Pizza North, at 1105 U.S. Highway 80, was opened in 2015.  Both businesses are in historic Tybee buildings and the 2015 renovation of the Tybrisa location was designed to highlight the building’s historic character.

The newest location, Lighthouse Pizza Islands, at 346B Johnny Mercer Blvd. on Wilmington Island, offers carryout, delivery to Wilmington, Talahi, Whitemarsh and Oatland Islands, and a large dining room with capacity for groups and special events.
