DPR Construction celebrated the “Topping Out” of the Perry Lane Hotel Project. Topping Out is a tradition in the construction industry celebrating the milestone of putting the last structural beam in place on a building and pouring the final portion of the roof to “top” the structure out.

Members of the DPR Construction team, along with subcontractors and the design team, came together for a celebratory lunch as DPR thanked the men and women for being an integral part of this remarkable addition to Savannah’s Historic District.

“At DPR we are committed to building strong relationships with all of our subs. We believe that our success is dependent on a shared commitment to being the very best at what we do. We are pleased to be able to recognize the hard work of the team to reach this important milestone and to their continued commitment to deliver a best in class project,” said Luke Dorman with DPR.

The project officially broke ground in January 2016 and has involved more than 30 local companies and in excess of 350 trained craftsmen and tradesmen. Quality is in DPR’s DNA and is central to everything the company does, including selecting best in class subcontractors. Each subcontractor goes through a pre-qualification process to ensure there is a shared commitment to safety and quality. DPR has a strong corporate culture centered on the core values of integrity, enjoyment, and uniqueness and ever forward. They strive to build lasting relationships with subcontractors that subscribe to the same value system.

Ronald Tucker from Mock Plumbing & Mechanical said, “The Mock Family has been in Savannah since about 1945 and as a local company it’s been awesome being involved with the Perry Lane project and DPR. This will be such a unique hotel for our area.”

Echoing those thoughts is Wayne Bylsma with Cherokee Pumping, who said “We have been working with DPR since 2005 and are extremely proud that this project allowed us to utilize the first ever pump truck to a placing boom in Savannah. The Perry Lane project is a challenging site and we are thrilled for the opportunity to work with such a first-class team.”

The Perry Lane Hotel will be a high-end boutique hotel with a distinctly southern design vernacular, positioned to be a best-in-class lifestyle property for travelers coming to Savannah. The project is being developed by Flank, who recently completed the reimagining and renovation of Drayton Tower.
