Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017

The Savannah Philharmonic is proud to present its annual “The American Spirit” concert at 7:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday, April 20-21, at St. Paul’s Evangelical Lutheran Church, 10 W. 31st St. in downtown Savannah.

Join the Savannah Philharmonic Chorus as their collective voice praises the brilliance of America in this star-spangled performance. This concert will feature a dazzling evening of American music including everything from national treasures like George and Ira Gershwin and Aaron Copland to some of the finest Broadway, film and patriotic music ever written.

The Savannah Philharmonic Chorus, led by Chorusmaster Dr. Monica Dekle and accompanied by pianist Keith Baxter, will treat audiences to unforgettable performances each evening.

“America’s history is rich with music that reflects the struggles and triumphs of our people,” Dekle said. “We have all immensely enjoyed and been inspired by singing this American music, some of which is surprisingly as difficult to sing as the European oratorios we often perform.”

Anyone interested in attending the show should act quickly, as Friday evening’s performance is sold out, and only a few seats remain for Thursday night. Tickets cost $25 each and can be purchased by visiting www.savannahboxoffice.com.
