Georgia DOT Awards $69.4M in Statewide Projects

The Georgia Department of Transportation has awarded 22 contracts for statewide transportation projects totaling $69,407,162. These projects were advertised in March, bids were received on April 21, and contracts were awarded on May 5 to the lowest qualified bidder.

This month, preservation of existing infrastructure represents over 88 percent of the awarded funds, with 17 contracts for resurfacing and maintenance of 120 miles of state highways across Georgia. These include a $29.8 million resurfacing along 7.2 miles of SR 403/I-85 from Clairmont Road/Shallowford Road to SR 140/Jimmy Carter Bridge in DeKalb and Gwinnett counties. The joint contract was awarded to C.W. Matthews Contracting Co., Inc. and E.R. Snell Contractor, Inc. Completion is expected by March 31, 2018.

In Southwest Georgia, a $5.9 million award for 26.5 miles of resurfacing on SR 37 went to Oxford Construction Company (Albany, Ga.), with an expected completion date of March 31, 2018.

Several bridge projects, including new bridge construction on SR 59 in Banks County and bridge rehabilitations on SR 26 and SR 49 in Chattahoochee and Macon counties, were awarded. Traffic signal upgrade contracts were also awarded to address safety in in Brooks, Colquitt and Richmond counties.
