Members of the Richmond Hill Historical Society are now accepting donations to restore a 1937 Ford firetruck to its original condition. Donations will be accepted until October’s Cars & Coffee on October 7, 2017.

The firetruck is believed to have been supplied by Henry Ford for Ways Station/Richmond Hill Fire Department. The Richmond Hill Historical Society discovered it was owned by the City of Midway and worked along with Mayor Harold Fowler and City Council members of Midway to purchase the truck for $1. Now they hope to raise $50,000 through donations, which is needed for restoration, including missing parts, accessories and housing for the truck.

“We are excited to have this artifact from the Ford era returned to Richmond Hill and appreciate the generosity of Midway Mayor Clemontine Washington and the Midway City Council,” said Christy Sherman, president of the Richmond Hill Historical Society. “We plan to return it to its former beauty and showcase it at the museum, the original Ford fire station in Richmond Hill, and in the Richmond Hill and Midway Christmas parades."

The different sponsorship levels include:

●    Fire House: $10,000

●    Commissioner: $5,000

●    Fire Chief: $2,500

●    Assistant Chief: $1,000

●    Battalion Chief: $500

●    Firefighter: $250

●    Lifesaver: $100

●    Dalmatian: $50

Donors will be recognized on a plaque at the museum as well as on social media, the organization’s website, and additional marketing.
