The Savannah Adult Recreation Club presented a $1,000 check to the Savannah Jaycees at their end of season party on Thursday, June 15.

SARC provides adults in Chatham, Bryan, and Effingham counties with recreational sports teams that foster social networks and connections. SARC raised this money during a one-day Charity Draft Kickball Tournament benefiting the Savannah Jaycees, where guests paid a $20 registration fee to play.

Celebrating their 75th anniversary this year, the Savannah Jaycees is a nonprofit organization of young professionals whose mission is to inspire leadership development through community involvement. Among the Savannah Jaycees’ most notable projects were the installation of voting booths throughout Chatham County, spearheading efforts to build the Civic Center, helping to build the Kicklighter School and Chatham Nursing Home, founding Toys-for-Tots with the Marines and the fire department, renovating the Forsyth Fountain, and creating Jaycees Park on Tybee Island.

“We are so grateful to the Savannah Adult Recreation Club for donating the proceeds from the Charity Draft Kickball Tournament to us,” said Cynthia Wright, president of the Savannah Jaycees. “What we do for the community is really made possible by the generosity of organizations like the SARC.”
