Savannah Commons Resident Celebrates 102 Years

Savannah Commons resident Anna Vogelsang will turn 102 years old on THURSDAY, JUNE 15, 2017.  
 
Born in Germany in 1915, she moved to the United States in 1930, before graduating high school and attending secretarial school and college.  She moved to Savannah in the 80’s, and took up painting.  Working in acrylics, she is a talented painter.  Her works hang in the hallway of Savannah Commons assisted living residence, The Springs and were exhibited in summer 2014.
 
Ms. Vogelsang is the oldest member of Savannah Commons’ recent GEM program, a boxing-based movement program coined by Michael Cohen of Cohen’s Gym and supported by Savannah Commons.
 
A member of the “The Century Club,” Ms. Vogelsang, joins three other Savannah Commons residents that are 100 years or older – Ms. Vogelsang, Mr. Fred Deckert who turned 103 in March, and Ms. Helen Newbold who will turn 102 this September.

Savannah Commons will honor Ms. Vogelsang’s 102th birthday on THURSDAY, June 15, 2017 at 2:30pm, in The Springs with refreshments and celebration.
