The Y is seeking more than 600 volunteers for a variety of responsibilities at the 2017 YMCA National Gymnastics Championship and Invitational hosted by the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc., June 28 – July 2, 2017.

The YMCA of Coastal Georgia will welcome 100 teams from 21 states with approximately 1,700 gymnasts and their families traveling to Savannah for this prestigious event. Throughout the weekend, approximately 5,500 visitors will make an estimated $4 million economic impact in our community.

An Olympic-style Opening Ceremony will take place at Forsyth Park on Thursday, June 29th at 6:00pm. Brandon Wynn, former US Olympic Men’s Gymnastics Team still-ring medalist, will serve as the keynote speaker. A 3-day competition will then take place Friday, June 30th through Sunday, July 2nd, at the Savannah International Trade and Convention Center.

YMCA of the USA proudly presents this annual event to select host cities throughout the United States. In recognition of our achievements and dedication in the past, the YMCA of Coastal Georgia, Inc. and their volunteer gymnastics families have been awarded this honor for the 5th time, the only YMCA association to be given the privilege of hosting this event this many times. YMCA gymnasts compete in this event for top honors, in individual events and all-around, while positively developing themselves and building character.  In order to compete in this event, gymnasts must have previously received a qualifying all-around score in their competing level in a USAG sanctioned meet. YMCA National Gymnastics Championship and Invitational events are developed within the core values of the YMCA, fulfilling the YMCA’s promise to nurture the potential of kids, promote healthy living, and foster a sense of social responsibility.
