Supporting public health during a hurricane, or other disaster, is a significant challenge.

That's why ServerCentral is proud to announce it has architected, deployed, and is actively managing a private cloud and Disaster Recovery environment for the Georgia Department of Public Health's Coastal Health District. The new distributed infrastructure delivers Disaster Recovery as a Service designed to keep the Coastal Health District running.

"We were faced with a single point of failure in Savannah, and we had to find a more resilient architecture and solution to stay online in the event of a disaster," said Barry Flynn, IT Manager at Coastal Health District. "This proved exceptionally challenging when you think about a disaster event as a tropical storm or hurricane. You're potentially talking about an entire region being impacted. It was critical that we looked beyond the region to provide the level of resiliency and availability we needed."

The Coastal Health District found its solution in ServerCentral's flagship data center in Elk Grove Village, IL. From there, ServerCentral provides Managed Backups and Disaster Recovery — operations which are supported via additional availability zones on the East and West Coasts. A custom-architected network connects these production and backup environments with Coastal Health's Georgia-based operations. The comprehensive solution increases capacity, speed, and resiliency while improving security and overall application performance.

"We are very lucky to have found ServerCentral. We are treated with such tremendous attention and professionalism. We needed a complete way to deliver continuity of system operations and patient care, and ServerCentral delivered. The support and insight in developing our new architecture and defining and testing our comprehensive Disaster Recovery plans has been fantastic," continued Mr. Flynn.

"It is always a pleasure working with great people, and that's what we get throughout the Coastal Health District," said Chris Rechtsteiner, Vice President at ServerCentral. "When there is a clear objective and an open mind to address that objective in the most comprehensive manner possible, amazing things can happen. Being an integral part of Coastal Health's Disaster Recovery transformation has been extremely rewarding for the entire ServerCentral team."
