Metro Savannah Rotary Donates $12,449 to Fresh Air Home

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, July 7th, 2017

The Metro Savannah Rotary Club has presented the Fresh Air Home, their annual service partner for 2016-2017, with a check for $12,449. Members vote on the service partner the club supports each year, agreeing to a minimum donation of $10,000 and four service quarterly service projects.

Club members and their families spent four days over the past year at the Fresh Air Home sanding and painting dining room furniture, cleaning the pavillion and cutting back overgrown bushes. The funds the club raised were used to replace outdated plumbing and install new floors in the recreation room.

For 120 years the Fresh Air Home, located at Tybee Island, Georgia, has been providing a summer camp for children ages four to eleven from Chatham, Bryan, Effingham and Liberty counties.

Patton Dugas, Club President, presented the check to Carter Eagle, Fresh Air Home board member, at the club's June lunch meeting where Margaret Jacobs, District Governor Elect, was also present. When presenting the check Dugas explained, "We were thrilled to work with the Fresh Air Home over the past year. Their mission of providing a safe, educational environment for at-risk youth ties in well with Rotary's Area of Focus on Maternal/Child Health and Supporting Education."

Metro Savannah Rotary's service partner for 2018-2018 will be Loop It Up Savannah.
