Savannah State University has been awarded approximately $3.7 million in federal grant funding for its TRiO Upward Bound program. UB will continue to help Savannah-Chatham County Public School System students excel as it provides outreach services to transition students from high school to college graduation through May 2024.

This program will continue to focus on increasing higher education pursuits in the target schools of Beach High School, Groves High School, Jenkins High School, Johnson High School and School of Liberal Arts at Savannah High School.

The funding is provided under the U.S. Department of Education’s Upward Bound Program, one of eight federal TRiO programs offering outreach and student services programs for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds, including low-income individuals, first-generation college students and individuals with disabilities, to progress through the academic pipeline to post baccalaureate programs.

TRiO programs are available for all Americans, regardless of race, ethnic background, or economic circumstance. They are funded under the Title IV Higher Education Act of 1965.
