St. John Baptist; The Mighty Fortress Celebrates 132 Years & New Location

St. John Baptist; known as "The Mighty Fortress"  has acquired a  new location after 132 years in Savannah. This legendary church with a congregation of over 3000 members, is moving from where a
congregation of former slaves erected the original church building at 526-28 Hartridge Street, in July, 1891 to the new location of 2415 E Derenne Ave (The old Savannah Christian Prep School). 

The Ribbon Cutting and Anniversary celebration will take place on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at  11am. Pastor George Lee III who has led the church since 2005 states, "It is an honor to see our congregation/family grow and need more space."   Ben & Jerry's Ice Cream Shop of Savannah has donated ice cream for the congregation for this very special event.
