Savannah Downtown Business Association’s breakfast meeting on Wednesday, October 11 will feature Dr. Ann Levett, superintendent of the Savannah/Chatham County Public School System and her discussing "Season of Impact: Year of Excellence” at the SoHo South Cafe, 12 West Liberty Street.

The event is open to the public and the deadline to register is Friday, October 6.  Cost is $25 for SDBA members and $40 for non-members. If space permits after the deadline, cost will be $35 for SDBA members and $45 for non-members.

A Savannah native and proud product of the local school system, Dr. Levett served as SCCPSS's chief academic officer and worked in the capacity of deputy superintendent of schools from 2013 to 2017 before being named superintendent June 1, 2017.  She has served as a professional educator since 1976, beginning her career at SCCPSS as a speech and language pathologist. After serving SCCPSS for years and rising to the rank of principal at Savannah High School, Dr. Levett left the area to pursue other opportunities. She rose to the rank of acting superintendent in Dayton, OH before moving on to higher education positions at Antioch University of Yale University of Medicine.

Throughout her career Dr. Levett has managed grants/projects valued at more than $15 million, coordinated school university partnerships across the U.S. and its territories, led school reform efforts in several European cities, and served as a board member for two charter schools in New Haven, CT.  She returned to the Savannah area in fall 2013 after serving as dean of Teacher Education at Middle Georgia State College. Governors Perdue and Deal appointed Dr. Levett to two major positions on state education boards and the state senate recognized her for her accomplishments in Education in 2015.

The proud mother of two adult daughters, Dr. Levett is actively involved in the community. She serves as a member of the board of trustees for Telfair Museums, board of directors for Greenbriar Children's Center, the Advisory Board for St. Joseph/Candler African-American Health Information and Resource Center, Scholarship Chair of the Greater Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame, and other organizations.
