Military Times has again honored Armstrong State University, ranking the institution 3rd in the nation among four-year schools on its Military Times Best: Colleges 2018 rankings, formerly known as Best for Vets. This year marks the fourth consecutive year Armstrong has been included on the prestigious list. In 2016, Armstrong was ranked #4 in the U.S.

"We are extremely proud of our programs, services and campus culture, which provide members of the military, veterans and their families the opportunity to achieve their academic and professional goals," said Phil Gore, Armstrong's director of Military Education Outreach and Success. "Being recognized by Military Times as one of the best institutions for military-affiliated students over the last four years demonstrates the level of commitment we have to providing our military population an optimal educational experience to ensure they complete a postsecondary degree."

With more than 1,250 military students enrolled during the Fall 2017 semester, 20 percent of Armstrong’s student population is military-affiliated. Armstrong was previously honored as a Top 100 Military Spouse Friendly School by Military Spouse magazine and a Military Friendly School by G.I. Jobs magazine. The university is ranked in the top 10 percent of all colleges, universities and trade schools nationwide for its military friendly status. Armstrong also has a Green Zone program to support military affiliated students on campus through faculty and staff awareness training and currently waives all mandatory fees for active duty military.

In addition to providing a supportive campus environment for military students, Armstrong is also part of the Academic Institutions for Military Students Network, which allows transferability of credits for military students, provides in-state tuition for members of the military and their families, and offers college credit for military experience.

As a complement to Armstrong’s main campus in Savannah, the university operates the Liberty Center in Hinesville, which helps members of the military community earn college degrees in key fields in Liberty County. The Liberty Center is a state-of-the-art campus located just outside of Ft. Stewart and has become a leading choice for soldiers and military spouses seeking a postsecondary education.

“We are honored to be recognized by the national military community for our veteran and military students’ success rates,” said Armstrong Interim President Jennifer L. Frum. “The service members and their spouses deserve the best higher education can offer. We are proud to serve those in our area in continuing their education and achieving a college degree. Furthermore, we are thrilled to provide more academic opportunities to the military community through the new Georgia Southern University. The new comprehensive institution will become a model for regional universities across the country.”
