RH City Center Names New Executive Chef

The Richmond Hill City Center recently appointed Chef Kevin J. Nape as executive chef. He’ll oversee culinary operations for one of the most respected wedding, corporate and social event venues in Coastal Georgia.

Located just a few minutes from Pooler, Savannah, Rincon, Hinesville, Bloomingdale and Port Wentworth, the Richmond Hill City Center is primely located near historic wetlands. From the esthetic appeal of the facility to the well-trained staff, the Richmond Hill City Center is the perfect setting for events of all types and seasons.

Chef Kevin has been in the catering field for over 33 years, living in Richmond Hill for the past four. His hobbies include maintaining salt-water fish tanks, sporting events (especially football) and cheering on his daughters at their sporting events. Chef Kevin worked his way up the ranks as a sous chef in a wide variety of culinary landscapes from country clubs, hotels, fine dining establishments, convention centers and sporting events. He has been an executive chef for over 17 years, serving up fine cuisine for Quad Cities in the Illinois and Iowa areas, in establishments such as TCP of Deere Run, the Grand Harbor Resort, Swing of the Quad Cities, Iowa Events Center, Davenport Good Samaritan Center and Hotel Blackhawk. Chef Kevin’s culinary approach emphasizes unique, custom-prepared cuisine created by his experienced culinary team. He strives to set new expectations for catered events and special diet menus, bringing his knowledge and culinary expertise to every special event.

Chef Kevin has successfully catered over 5,000 banquets and weddings, serving anywhere from two to 8,200 guests, and has competed in various cooking competitions such as the March of Dimes where he placed second, third and fourth. He also won numerous awards with the Hotel Blackhawk team, including the 2012 and 2013 Triple AAA Four Diamond Award, the 2012 and 2013 Wine Spectator Award of Excellence, the 2013 Trip Advisor Certificate of Excellence, and the Forbes Travel Guide Recommended Property. In addition, President Barack Obama presented Chef Kevin’s  team with the Culinary of Excellence Award and  Presidential Award and placed their menu item on the West Wing menu. Additional awards and achievements include being one of South Magazine’s South’s Greatest Chefs of 2016, first place at the AquaCurean Challenge at the 2017 Seafood & Spirits Gourmet Festival, Best Presentation and Unique Food at the 10th Annual Dine South event, and Best Food and Best Booth at the 9th Annual Dine South event. Nape has catered to P.G.A. golf professionals and musical celebrities, including Bryan Adams, Bon Jovi, and Hootie and the Blowfish.

The Richmond Hill City Center is set a midst 335 acres of wetlands and park. The center specializes in corporate and association meetings/events, weddings and receptions, as well as private functions and parties. The venue consists of a 4,000 square-foot ballroom and 10 meeting rooms, making up 23,000 square feet of multifunctional event space. Nape and his culinary team will provide the finest food and beverage solutions tailored to every individual event’s needs. Due to its central locations and unique atmosphere, the City Center has been voted Bryan County’s “Favorite Event Venue” time and again.
