Tuesday, January 30th, 2018

The Savannah Music Festival and Southbound Brewing Company are partnering for the fourth straight year to release a springtime IPA for the 2018 festival developed over a shared love of live music. The February 17 event includes a concert by Mipso, a North Carolina rock ‘n’ roll stringband that is also scheduled to perform at SMF’s all-day Festival Finale at Trustees’ Garden on April 14. Tickets to the release party on Feb. 17 are now on sale at savannahmusicfestival.org, 912.525.5050 and the Savannah Box Office at 216 East Broughton Street. Admission is $10 in advance and $15 day of show. The first 50 attendees through the door will go home with a 22 oz. bottle of the limited release of Rollin’ & Stumblin’ Double IPA, and door prizes will include SMF tickets and merchandise. Doors open at 7:30pm and the music begins at 8:30pm. In addition to pints and flights, food will also be available for purchase on site (provided by Chazito’s). Parking is available in the Great Dane parking lot on the northeast corner of E. Lathrop and W. Bay St., across the street from the brewery (107 E. Lathrop). This event is 21+, and is standing room only.

Chapel Hill-based Americana quartet Mipso are influenced equally by their progressive hometown and the surrounding rural southern landscapes. Over the past year, Mipso has ventured further than ever from their straight stringband origins to discover a broader Americana where classic folk-rock and modern alt-country sounds mingle easily with Appalachian tradition. Adding drums and electric instruments, Mipso’s music is lush and forward moving. Hailed by Acoustic Guitar magazine as “hewing surprisingly close to gospel and folk while still sounding modern and secular” and recently recognized by Rolling Stone magazine as a favorite 2016 festival performance, Mipso brings a distinctly unique sound – full of wistful beauty, hopeful undercurrents and panoramic soundscapes.
