Infinity, Inc. Accepts Million Book Challenge

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, February 5th, 2018

Infinity, Inc. announces they have accepted the public school system’s Million Book Challenge. Throughout the month of February, Infinity employees will bring in new or gently used books of grades K-5 reading levels to support the SCCPSS Balanced Literacy Initiative. Infinity will also be accepting donated books from businesses and individuals in the Chatham Parkway area. All members of the community are encouraged to rise to this challenge for our children.

The goal of the Balanced Literacy Initiative being implemented in the district this year is to put one million books in all local K-5 classrooms. The comprehensive Balanced Literacy reading program involves reading aloud, word work involving vocabulary and lessons in Latin root words, writing, reading with partners and independent reading, and guided reading.

A Savannah Chamber notice about the initiative pointed out, “As leaders in the community who have a vested interest in the overall success of our local school system, we have an opportunity make a substantial impact.”

Infinity CEO Chuck Brown couldn’t agree more. “Easy access to books at a young age opened up the world for me. One of our core values at Infinity is “Continually Improve” and what better way to do that than to read. We believe it’s important to provide these resources to the next generation of problem- solvers, so Infinity is proud to announce our participation with the Million Book Challenge. We hope you’ll join us in developing a library for every classroom in grades K-5 throughout the Savannah-Chatham County Public School System.”

To donate a book, please visit Infinity, Inc. at 10 Chatham Center South Dr., Savannah, GA 31405 Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM.
