Georgia Tech-Savannah to Host Summer Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics Camps

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, April 30th, 2018

Starting June 4, 2018, Georgia Tech-Savannah will host a number of summer camps on campus to enrich STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) learning for rising 1st through 8th graders. Students ages 6 - 13 throughout Bryan, Chatham, Effingham, and Liberty County Schools are encouraged to register.

“Getting kids exposed to STEAM early allows them to see themselves in that career path,” said Diane Lee, executive director of Georgia Tech-Savannah. “Our Full STEAM Ahead summer camp will give them the opportunity to challenge their imagination, and maybe even surprise parents as to what their children have the ability to create with today’s technology.”

The 2018 Full STEAM Ahead Summer Camps will expand beyond technical abilities by teaching kids how to collaborate with a team to produce a robotics zoo from idea to reality. From designing and building Hummingbird robots to creating their own soundtrack for their exhibit, students will leave the camp with a range of new scientific and social skill sets. Parents are invited to attend the student showcase at the end of the week where the kids will unveil their projects.

This year's list of camps include:

June 4-8

June 11-15

June 25-29 (Dual Locations at GT Savannah and Blandford Elementary School in Effingham County)

July 9-13 (Middle School Summer Program)
