Next Saturday, April 21, the A-Town Get Down Art & Music Festival returns to Savannah for its 8th year, bringing a full day of creative inspiration for all ages to Indian Street, Under the Bridge. The festival has released its robust lineup of musical performances, art experiences, and hands-on workshops that will be happening throughout the day from Noon-10:00pm, including a special performance by headliner Chuck Leavell to close out the evening. MUSIC

Musical performances kick off at the start of the festival at Noon, and carry on throughout the day on two stages: the Queensborough Stage, located outside just past the festival entrance, and the SVEC Jam Stage, located inside Ghost Coast Distillery. Festival attendees will enjoy performances by headliner Chuck Leavell, Phoebe Elliott, the Savannah Children’s Choir, Britt Scott, The New Familiars, Southern Avenue, Bernard Purdie, Randall Bramblett, and other special guests. Attendees will also enjoy the always-popular Gesture Jam and Open Jam session, where accomplished artists can perform alongside aspiring artists for mutual inspiration.  

ART

The day-long festival will also feature endless interactive art experiences and hands-on workshops. Highlights include the Adobe Arts Lab, the Creative Coast Mural Wall Timelapse, canvas bag decorating with Savannah Arts Academy, portrait paintings, and more. The ArtPort Shuffle will feature local artists Dana Richardson, Deb Oden, Duff Yong, Todd Schroeder, Denise Carson, and Adolfo Hernandez, who will each contribute collaboratively to six art panels that will be auctioned off at the end of the festival. In addition, Savannah-based multimedia artist Will Penny will be doing a live digital projection.

MOVER, SHAKER, GAME CHANGER WITH LOOP IT UP

A-Town is also partnering with Loop It Up Savannah on the #MoverShakerGameChanger project aimed to inspire local youth. For this project, Loop It Up selected over 30 Savannah residents who are changing Savannah for the better and invited them to speak at partner schools and community centers. Loop It Up students have produced 3’x6’ mural paintings of these individuals that will be displayed at the festival.
