CoastalStates Bank recently announced its expansion within the Coastal Empire with the hire of Savannah banking veteran Brian P. Smith as senior vice president. CoastalStates Bank currently has locations in Bluffton, S.C., Hilton Head Island, S.C., Birmingham Ala., and Atlanta, Ga.

Under Smith’s leadership, the bank plans to open multiple locations within Savannah and surrounding communities. With over 18 years of experience in the banking industry, Smith most recently worked with Ameris Bank as senior vice president and commercial relationship manager. He has been recognized multiple times as a top loan producer during his career and has served in a variety of capacities including a concentration in retail, mortgage, and commercial departments.

“CoastalStates Bank has achieved remarkable growth within the southeastern United States while maintaining the important attributes of a local and community based bank,” said Smith. “I am excited to have a role in the development of CoastalStates Bank in my hometown and surrounding communities. My goal is to ensure our team provides excellent customer service and top notch banking expertise.”

Smith graduated from the University of Georgia with a Bachelor of Science in English Education. He is an active member of the community and has served on the boards of multiple organizations including Interfaith Hospitality Network, Community Housing Service Authority, Savannah Tech Advisory Board, and The Next Generation Advisory Board.  He is a founding member of the Pooler Rotary Club and also volunteers with Xcel Strategies & Solutions, a local non-profit organization that creates mentorship opportunities for young men. He is a graduate of both Leadership Savannah and Leadership Georgia, and a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. Brian and his wife Alison have three daughters and attend Isle of Hope Methodist Church, where he serves in many capacities including the Staff Parish Relations Committee and the Finance Committee.
