Senior Citizens, Inc. is pleased to honor Irene L. Johnson and Col. Edward Wexler at the “Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Award” luncheon on Friday, May 11 at the Landings Plantation Club.  Luncheon attendees will hear the inspirational life stories of the honorees, see the positive impact that they have had on their communities, and learn how their lives have exemplified a “life well lived’. Event proceeds will benefit The Learning Center, the Adult Day Health Center, Meals on Wheels, and other SCI programs whose mission is to help people age successfully. The event is sponsored by Georgia Power.  

Both Ms. Johnson and Colonel Wexler (Ret.) have dedicated themselves to improving the lives of others on their path to a life well lived,” according to Patti Lyons, President of SCI. “Our honorees are an inspiration to all of us and we are so proud to be able to recognize them. They personify the vision of our organization and are tangible examples of why we work each day to provide and link people to the services and resources they need to age successfully,” said Lyons.

The 2018 Legends, Leaders, and Life Well Lived Award Honorees are:

Irene L. Johnson:

An educator and social worker, Ms. Johnson is a lifelong resident of Savannah who continues to be an active volunteer in several ministries and organizations following her retirement from a 26 year career at the Coastal Center for Developmental Services (now Employability).

Col. Edward Wexler (Retired):

The 2017-2018 Chatham County Veteran of the Year, Colonel Wexler remained in Savannah following his retirement from the Air Force and Georgia Air National Guard; as one of the founders of Honor Flight Savannah, he has long been dedicated to improving the active and veteran military community.
