Ogeechee Technical College Adult Education English as a Second Language Instructor, Daphne Jackson, is guiding our ESL students through a series of activities that will strengthen their English speaking skills as they set personal and professional goals.  ESL student, Geovanny Martinez, has a dream of getting a Master’s degree in Homeland Security, but knows that he needs to improve his English speaking skills. The activity pictured above took the ESL Program out of the classroom and Geovanny was able to apply his weekly lessons by communicating with customers and staff while ordering his favorite drink. He even asked for a picture from a new friend. "The reward of instructing is manifested through watching Geovanny and all of my students as they set and achieve small goals with their English skills," said Jackson. "These activities provide great opportunities for our ESL students. They build confidence in their abilities to navigate in the community and in life" said Samantha Smith, Dean for Adult Education.
