Concrete slab maintenance and leveling on Interstate 16 and Interstate 516 in Chatham County will affect nighttime and weekend traffic beginning Wednesday, July 18 and continue for the next few months, if not longer. As always, weather conditions will affect the timeframe.
 
These interstate intermittent concrete maintenance projects span the complete corridor of I-16 and I-516 in Chatham County including Exit 152 (SR 17) ramps, Exit 165 (37th Street) ramps and Exit 167A (MLK Jr. Boulevard) ramp.
 
During nighttime hours, traffic will be channeled down to one lane where the work is occurring between the hours of 9 p.m. and 6 a.m., Monday through Thursday and continuous weekend lane closures starting 9 p.m., Friday night ending 6 a.m., Monday morning.
 
This concrete maintenance repair activity consists of spalls, potholes and large crack repairs with some full depth slab replacement along these corridors. Other maintenance activities occurring are concrete grinding for smoothness and resealing joints to extend the life span of the roadway surface.
