Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Friday, December 7th, 2018

The Coastal Plain League announced this morning, December 5, that the Savannah Bananas have been awarded the 2019 CPL All-Star Showdown. The 21st annual CPL All-Star event will make its first trip to historic Grayson Stadium in Savannah, Ga., July 7-8, 2019.

"We are excited to announce our Coastal Plain League All-Star Event will be hosted by the Savannah Bananas in 2019," said CPL COO/Commissioner Justin Sellers. "The Savannah community has been very supportive since we expanded there in 2016 and we know they will be pumped to attend our premier event this summer."

Fans can plan for the festivities to begin on Sunday night, July 7, with the full format of the CPL All-Star Showdown being announced on December 15th during the Bananas Christmas Party at Grayson Stadium.

"This will be unlike any All-Star event fans have ever seen," said Bananas owner Jesse Cole. "We are breaking away from the traditional format and making it a two day event of non-stop action, entertainment and showmanship."

Tickets to the CPL All-Star Showdown will be available to fans based on priority with current 2019 Bananas members and ticket package holders having first access to All-Star ticket options. A limited number of All-You-Can-Eat Five Game packages remain for the 2019 season. Anyone without a 2019 ticket package will need to join the Bananas Priority Waiting List to have the first chance to purchase seats to any remaining individual games or seats to the CPL All-Star Showdown.

"Jesse and Emily Cole, as well as Jared [Orton] and the entire Bananas staff do a fantastic job," said Sellers. "We are looking forward to seeing their creativity shine as we work together to put on a memorable two days for everyone in attendance."

The Bananas, entering their fourth season in 2019, earned CPL Organization of the Year honors in both 2016 and 2017. They continued their success in 2018, extending their sellout streak to two straight seasons and currently hold a 60-game sellout streak overall. The Bananas have been featured on MSNBC, CNN and ESPN.

"Just get your popcorn ready and get mentally prepared, we are giving fans something to root for and get behind," said Cole.

The 2019 CPL All-Star Showdown will be presented by MacAljon, the premier contractor for Industry in the Southeast.

"We have been longtime supporters of baseball teams at Grayson Stadium and as life-long members of this community are so excited that the Bananas have come in to energize and revitalize the game of baseball in our town," said MacAljon owner Susie MacMillan. "For us, family comes first and what really excited us is seeing how Jesse was able to turn a simple game into such an amazing, family-based event. We have over 700 employees and 400 families with us and are thankful that so many of them get to enjoy going to the games, events, concerts, haunted house and more. Being able to partner with such a family-oriented production was a huge blessing for us and we knew right away that we had to jump on board with the opportunity to bring the CPL All-Star game to Savannah."

The past four seasons the CPL All-Star Game has been nationally televised as well as streamed online at MLB.com reaching over 25-million households.

The Coastal Plain League partnered with Skye Design Studios for the sixth consecutive year to develop its 2019 All-Star Game logo. SDS is a brand identity and design firm based in the greater New York City area with a satellite location in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
