“Through the Eyes of the Artist: Paintings by Harris Lewis” Opening Reception Today

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Monday, January 14th, 2019

The Learning Center of Senior Citizens, Inc. (SCI) will host an opening reception for “Through the Eyes of the Artist: Paintings by Harris Lewis” on Monday, January 14, 2019, from 5:30 pm to 7 pm at SCI, 3025 Bull Street. The reception is free and open to the public.

Upon his retirement in December 2016, Probate Court Judge Harris Lewis realized that he had run out of excuses to not paint. “It took years to get back to painting, but retirement was the right time,” he says.

Lewis took a summer course at the Telfair Academy when he was only fifteen, followed by sessions in his adulthood with Myrtle Jones, Bill Scharf, and Augusta Oelschig.

The 28 paintings in this collection are new, employing a limited palate which keeps the artist “out of trouble,” according to Harris.

All of the works in the exhibit will be available for purchase. The exhibit will be shown at The Learning Center of SCI through March 15.
