The Chatham County Sheriff’s Office raised nearly $30,000 during their 17th Annual Poker Run on Sunday, April 28. All proceeds benefit the Georgia Sheriffs’ Youth Homes, a facility that houses abandoned and neglected children.

“Each year, we throw a Christmas party for the children at the Hahira campus and this poker run funds that, as well as a large purchase that the home needs,” explained Chatham County Sheriff John T. Wilcher. “I’m thrilled that we were able to raise this much money for a cause that is so close to my heart.”

Sunday’s event brought out 315 motorcycles and 450 people.

“Each year, the Poker Run grows larger and larger and I am so grateful to each and every person that contributed and took the time to attend,” said Wilcher.
