On Wednesday, May 8, 2019, the Coastal Georgia Council Boy Scouts of America held its annual Good Scout Dinner at the Savannah Marriott Riverfront, featuring Vince Dooley, the legendary former UGA coach as guest speaker. During Dooley's tenure, Georgia athletic teams won 78 SEC team championships and numerous individual national titles in both men's and women's sports. For over 50 years, Vince Dooley has had an enduring impact on the University of Georgia, Southeastern Conference, and collegiate athletics across the country.
 
Three outstanding community leaders and one of the community's preeminent mentoring organizations were honored with the Whitney M Young, Jr. Award for their service and dedication to the young people in our community. The honorees included Dr. Angie Lewis, Director of Career-Technical Education for the Savannah Chatham Public School System; Mr. Michael O'Neal, Executive Director at Community United Services Inc. and founder of Parent University; and Mr. Moncello Stewart, Savannah State University and President of Phi Beta Sigma, Tau Beta Sigma Chapter. The 100 Black Men of Savannah, Inc. was also recognized with the Whitney M. Young, Jr. Award. Mr. Harold Oglesby, President of the 100 Black Men of Savannah, Inc. was on hand to accept the award.
