STC Aviation Maintenance Student Wins National Technical Honor Society Scholarship

Savannah Technical College Aviation Maintenance student Joshua Clifton has been awarded a $1,000 scholarship from the National Technical Honor Society. Clifton is one of 250 outstanding NTHS members to receive the Jon H. Poteat Scholarship nationwide in 2019.

This scholarship is named in honor and memory of the co-founder of the society, Jon H. Poteat. It is awarded annually to NTHS members who consistently exemplify the seven character attributes of the NTHS – Skill, Honesty, Service, Responsibility, Scholarship, Citizenship, and Leadership.

Clifton is one of 50 STC students who were inducted into NTHS in 2019. He completed his GED with the College prior to enrolling in the Aviation Maintenance program. He is a second-generation STC student, whose dad studied HVAC and mom studied practical nursing.

To be eligible for NTHS membership at Savannah Technical College, students must a minimum grade point average of 3.4 and have been nominated by an instructor in their major. NTHS honors student achievement and leadership, promotes educational excellence, awards scholarships, and enhances career opportunities inductees. Also, NTHS is the international leader in providing recognition for excellence in career and technical education.
