A group of local business owners have teamed up to Bring Light to the Darkness of Cancer. The team, led by Tersh and Julie Blissett of Icebound HVAC, will be hosting a family friendly event called Hero Fest on Saturday, September 7th from 3-7pm at Red Gate Farms. This event will kickoff the annual Light The Night fundraising campaign for The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. This event is meant to honor all of those affected by cancer and will introduce the 2019 Light The Night Super Heroes, 5 Savannah area pediatric cancer survivors.

Local community heroes including Military, Police, Fire, and EMS are also coming together as Heroes supporting Super Heroes. They will be on site with their vehicles and K9’s offering fun activities for kids and families. Additionally, local restaurants and food trucks will be on site serving up some of Savannah’s finest tastings. “It has taken the entire community coming together to pull off this amazing event,” said event organizer Julie Blissett of Icebound HVAC. “We are extremely grateful to our business partners for not hesitating on jumping in to make this all possible.” Local sponsors and partners for Hero Fest include JDog Junk Removal, South Magazine, Red Gate Farms, Ghost Coast Distillery, Roots a Southern Salon, BR Total Marketing Concepts, Optim Healthcare, Service Brewing, Royal Restrooms, Owens Elite Welding, SAVTakeOut, Creative Approach, and MXM Productions.

Tickets for Hero Fest are available for purchase on Eventbrite or through the event’s Facebook page. All proceeds will directly benefit The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society’s Savannah Light The Night. “At Light The Night, it is our aim to bring light to the darkness of cancer through research and cures. We are taking steps together to end cancer,” said Lauren Mathews, LLS Campaign Manager. “The light and warmth we generate delivers hope in time of despair, community in place of loneliness, and life-saving research and support for cancer patients and their families.” This year’s Light The Night will be held on Saturday, November 9th, at Memorial Health.
