Hargray Preparations in Place for Hurricane Dorian

Staff Report

Tuesday, September 3rd, 2019

Hargray has activated its emergency response plan in preparation for Hurricane Dorian. Across Hargray's growing southeast footprint, the emergency measures include coordination with customers to help with their business continuity, securing the company's facilities, inspecting and refueling generators, performing a risk assessment of critical network elements, and coordinating with police, fire, medical response, and other governmental agencies. Hargray personnel, along with emergency vehicles and equipment, will be timely staged and ready to deploy as needed after the storm.

"With over 650 locally based colleagues, we understand the criticality of communication to the homes and businesses we serve, especially during emergencies. While we hope that these extensive preparations will be unnecessary, we will be ready to provide the best possible support to our customers and communities during and after this storm, whatever their needs may be," remarked Jonathan Mullen, Director of Administration for Hargray. These preparations, along with the extraordinary commitment of Hargray's local colleagues, proved instrumental during Hurricane Matthew, Tropical Storm Irma, and Hurricane Michael, as Hargray's core network remained intact throughout each weather event.

While the actual path of Hurricane Dorian is unknown, individuals and businesses are urged to monitor and respond appropriately as outlined by local and state emergency management authorities such as the Florida Division of Emergency Management, Georgia Emergency Management Division, and the South Carolina Emergency Management Division.
