It is with a mix of sadness and gratitude the Step Up Savannah Board of Directors announces the departure of Executive Director Jennifer Singeisen, effective October 25, 2019. Jennifer played a critical role in the development and success of the organization, and while we will miss her and her inspiring leadership, we wish her the best of luck in her new endeavors as she takes time to be with her family. The board of directors of Step Up Savannah would like to formally thank Jennifer for her three years of service which involved many significant accomplishments including:

Expanding the AmeriCorps VISTA program to 10 community partner organizations.

Establishing the Neighborhood Leadership Academy 2.0 program.

Securing funding from organizations like the Babcock Foundation, Annie E. Casey Foundation, AT&T, Community Catalyst, and AARP Foundation.

Partnering with the City of Savannah and Chatham County to further the mission of Step Up Savannah to provide economic development for those in poverty.

Bringing safe and affordable bank accounts to Savannah/Chatham youth through Summer 500.

Expanding the Chatham Apprentice Program to include late afternoon classes to increase the program's reach and accessibility.

Establishing a Voter Registration program and Get Out The Vote campaign.

Over the next few months, the board of directors of Step Up Savannah will be conducting a search to find a new executive director. An interim director will be announced at a later date. During this transition period, it is the board of directors priority to find the best individual to lead while still maintaining a stable and effective organization. The official job announcement will be shared soon.

Again, we cannot thank Jennifer enough for the dedication, passion, enthusiasm, and motivation she has provided Step Up over the past three years. She will be greatly missed by the staff, the board of directors, the community, and partners alike. We look forward to following her continued success and are hopeful and excited for the next chapter of Step Up as we continue to support our community by promoting economic opportunity and financial security in Chatham County Georgia.
