Following Senator Isakson's farewell speech on the floor of the U.S. Senate, Governor Brian P. Kemp released the following statement:

“No one embodies Georgia's heart and soul more than Johnny Isakson. As we saw on the floor of the Senate today, Isakson is the standard for what it means to be a statesman, gentleman, and servant leader. He is held in the highest regard by all who are fortunate enough to know him and work with him. Georgians owe Johnny a tremendous debt of gratitude for decades of selfless service in the Georgia General Assembly, State Board of Education, U.S. House, and U.S. Senate. Marty, the girls, and I are forever grateful for his kindness and friendship over the years, and we are praying for him and Dianne as they begin their next journey.”
