Ronald McDonald House Charities Updates

Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Wednesday, March 25th, 2020

We wanted to share that the Ronald McDonald House remains open, serving the most critical cases here in the Coastal Empire. Children are sick on a Tuesday, Christmas Day or during the most trying times. As that dynamic will never change, the House will remain open 24/7 to serve. We thank everyone for their continued support and well wishes during these days.

Due to the growing concern about the threat of COVID-19, Ronald McDonald House Charities announces the following changes to two of their upcoming events.  The annual Red Shoes Run 5K, scheduled for Saturday, April 11th has transitioned to a virtual event. Runners can now run the weekend of April 10th -12th to support the House and get some great gear. Go to https://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/events/red-shoes-run/ for more info. Wine, Women & Shoes, originally scheduled for Thursday, April 30th has been postponed to Thursday, June 11thhttps://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/events/wine-women-shoes/ The rescheduled date of Wine, Women & Shoes falls within the eight-week window of the recommended cancellation of events for 50 people or more by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Registered participants to both events will be contacted with additional information.

As an organization that relies on over 200 volunteers and thousands of donors in the Coastal Empire region to help deliver their mission, RMHC is experiencing implications to volunteer programs and cancellation of fundraising events. As such, you can help provide additional support by visiting https://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/donate/ to make a monetary donation or https://www.rmhccoastalempire.org/get-involved/wish-list/ to learn what items are needed.

Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Coastal Empire is a nonprofit organization that provides a home away from home for families of critically ill and injured children who are seeking treatment at our local children’s hospital or a nearby medical facility.  In 2019, RMHC provided 4974 family night stays, served an additional 3,400 families with their two-family rooms, and provided dental services and education to 2700 children between the ages of 3-11.
