Staff Report From Savannah CEO

Tuesday, March 17th, 2020

As concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19) escalates, the Savannah African Art Museum (SAAM) will close effective immediately through March 21, 2020.   Museum exhibits, galleries, and tours are closed at this time and all public programs and outreach efforts have been put on immediate hold.

SAAM is continually monitoring the situation and will continue to follow local, state and federal agencies and adhere to their directives, reviewing the status every Friday before re-opening the museum’s doors.  SAAM has been implementing extra measures to prioritize the health and safety of visitors, staff and volunteers including increased frequency of cleaning in all areas of the museum, annex building, and public spaces.  The organization has required that staff and volunteers who are sick stay home.

“We are committed to safeguarding health and safety and appreciate everyone’s patience as we work to assist our community in staying safe and well,” said Executive Director, Billie Stultz.
