Port Wentworth Chamber's Social Distancing Golf Tournament is Set for June 12th

Staff Report

Wednesday, June 3rd, 2020

Save the date for the upcoming Social Distancing Golf Tournament, hosted by the Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce. Participants will tee off at 9 a.m. Friday, June 12.

COVID-19 has affected many businesses, many organizations and every community including Port Wentworth. The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce canceled the annual Savannah River Spring Classic bass fishing tournament, which raises funds for the Military Order of the Purple Heart, Chatham County Chapter 596. The City of Port Wentworth also canceled the Stand Up for America Day festival. These patriotic community events honor our military and veterans.

The Port Wentworth Chamber was devastated that these beloved events — which the city’s residents and guests look forward to each year — were canceled. To make up for activities missed, the Chamber will present a portion of proceeds raised by the golf tournament to the City of Port Wentworth to go towards the Veterans Memorial fund and make a donation to M.O.P.H. Chapter 596.

The community is invited to come join the chamber for a day of fun-filled golfing at one of our local courses. Enjoy fresh air, food, prizes, beverages, and the chance to network — adhering to all current guidelines — with businesses in our area.

The Port Wentworth Chamber of Commerce Social Distancing Golf Tournament will be held at Crosswinds Golf Club on Friday, June 12, 2020 with a morning shot gun at 9 a.m. Registration opens at 8 a.m. and boxed lunches by Grille 19 will be served beginning at 11 a.m. The tournament rain date is scheduled for July 17, 2020.
