Savannah SCORE’s inaugural “Speed Mentoring for Women in Business: From Breakdown to Breakthrough” on August 22 was a huge success. Approximately 50 businesswomen from throughout the coastal area participated in the virtual educational and networking event specifically designed for in-business female entrepreneurs and business owners.

“I truly enjoyed the SCORE event which gave a diverse group of businesswomen and entrepreneurs the opportunity to ask questions and get answers in real time and hear about the cutting-edge issues affecting business today,” Attorney Sarah H. Lamar of HunterMaclean said. Lamar was one of the event’s panelists and shared insights regarding Employment Law Essentials.

According to a number of the Women in Business seminar’s participants, the event was very impactful and there is interest in a follow-up seminar. “We were thrilled with the number of participants and the enthusiasm that they brought to the event,” Zenetria Ward, a Savannah SCORE Mentor and one of the event panelists said. “It  exceeded our expectations and we are already planning for 2021.”

The August 22 event featured a panel of some of the Savannah area’s best and brightest women in business. Panelists discussed a variety of topics including funding sources, financial management, digital marketing strategies, pivoting business plans to meet today’s challenges, HR management, legal issues, opportunities for women to do business with the City of Savannah, and more.
