U.S. Senator Kelly Loeffler (R-Ga.) issued the following statement after the U.S. Air Force announced the selection of the 165th Airlift Wing (AW) at the Savannah Air National Guard Base as the home for a new fleet of C-130Js:

“As one of the most pro-military states in the country, this is outstanding news for Georgia and our military and coastal communities,” Loeffler said. “The strategic location of the Savannah Air National Guard Base and the readiness of the 165th AW make Savannah the right place for these new C-130Js. I commend the U.S. Air Force’s decision, and I will continue to work to ensure the Department of Defense and our service members have the resources they need to keep America safe as we face today’s challenges and the threats of tomorrow.”

“We are honored that the 165th Airlift Wing, Georgia Air National Guard, was selected as one of the Air Force’s preferred main operating base locations for the new C130J Super Hercules aircraft,” Major General Thomas Carden, Adjutant General of Georgia National Guard said. “The hard working men and women of the 165th made a strong business case for this decision. We appreciate the unwavering support of our Congressional delegation as their work enables our organization to do our part in making our country safer.”
