Custom Audio Video, Community Members Raise $75,000 for Developing Global Leaders
Monday, August 9th, 2021
The generosity of Custom Audio Video, Brandon Heath and 150 community members on June 11, 2021 provided over $75,000 for SIX transformational leaders. Joshua, Rinrin, Sebastian, Sasha, Taisia and Courage will be equipped to change lives, families and communities for generations to come. I’ve attached a video snapshot of the night.
Five-time Grammy nominated recording artist, Brandon Heath, held an intimate backyard concert at the beautiful home of Roel and Jennifer Harsta on the May River underwritten by Custom Audio Video. The exclusive invitation list included 150 generous members of the Bluffton/Hilton Head community. We raised $75,000 to fund six Developing Global Leaders (DGL) for four years around the world. The program includes a full-ride college scholarship, professional and spiritual mentoring as well as leadership training that will launch transformational leaders into the next level of their career. DGL students are volunteer Young Life leaders who are already transforming developing countries and do not have the resources or the opportunity to attend college outside of the program. They are among the best and the brightest from 60 developing countries in their communities, nominated and chosen to be in the DGL program. Supporters are grateful to be invited into their amazing journeys. You can see a more in-depth description and meet some of the DGL students around the world HERE.
Young Life is a Christian outreach ministry for middle school, high school and college students in all 50 of the United States and in more than 100 countries around the world. Developing Global Leaders was created in 2009 and has funded more than 650 graduates and 450 current university students in 60 developing countries around the world. In 12 years, DGL students have recruited and trained over 13,000 volunteers and impacted the lives of 670,000 teens. 97% of DGL graduates stay in their home country, 34% go on Young Life Staff, 7% pursue advanced degrees and the rest go into their field of study.
