The Hilton Head International Competition Announces 2022 Applications

The Hilton Head International Piano Competition (HHIPC) reports receiving 165 applications from 28 countries for the 2022 competition. This competition features pianists in the 18 – 30 age range and has cash awards totaling $34,000, a winner’s debut recital at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, and other performance opportunities. Applications were received from aspiring artists in several countries for the first time, including India, Switzerland, and Lithuania. In November, the applications will be reviewed by a jury of internationally renowned pianists and music school faculty members including Angela Cheng, Marina Lomazov, and Boris Slutsky to determine the 20 competitors and alternates who will be revealed in late November. The 2022 competition is scheduled for March 7 – 14 and features afternoon and evening performances at St. Luke’s Church and First Presbyterian Church, both on Hilton Head Island. The competition will conclude on Monday, March 14 with a program by the three finalists each performing a concerto with the Hilton Head Symphony Orchestra.
