The Crime Stoppers of Savannah-Chatham County Board of Directors has announced the appointment of Brittany Herren to the position of Executive Director.

Herren’s appointment came following a unanimous decision by the Search Committee and the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors.

“The Board of Directors is thrilled to welcome Mrs. Brittany Herren as the permanent director of Savannah-Chatham Crime Stoppers,” said Gerry Long, Chair of the Savannah-Chatham Crime Stoppers Board of Directors. “She has been working very hard through this pandemic to plan for our future success in Savannah and Chatham County and we are excited for the new year coming with her at the helm.”

Herren has served as Interim Executive Director since October of 2020 and prior to that appointment, came on board as the organization’s Assistant Executive Director in November of 2019. During her tenure at Crime Stoppers, Herren has significantly modernized the organization’s internal operations, bolstered PR and marketing efforts which included building and launching the new Crime Stoppers website, and contributed significantly to the organization’s financial success by raising substantial capital through fundraising and private donors.

Prior to establishing a relationship with Crime Stoppers, Herren received a Master’s Degree in Professional Communication and Leadership from Georgia Southern University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in English from Valdosta State University. Herren boasts an extensive resume with experience that spans more than a decade, including leading communication offices at the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office and the City of Hinesville.

A former award-winning journalist and marketer, Herren is a frequent contributor with local and regional media organizations, often as an expert in criminal justice and human interest. Herren ambitiously anticipates continuing to grow the media reach of Crime Stoppers in 2022, along with the organization’s general footprint as the only non-profit of its kind throughout Savannah and Chatham County that works with citizens, law enforcement and the media to solve and prevent crime.

“Crime Stoppers is such a critically needed organization and I am just incredibly grateful for the opportunity to be able to continue to invest my career in the Crime Stoppers mission,” said Herren. “I have personally seen the impact that Crime Stoppers has had in our community and I look forward to the challenge of growing that impact, reach and success.”
